JOSIAH TO, MD, MASc
Innovation Fellow | Ophthalmologist | Mechatronics Engineer
Hello, I’m Josiah, and I am an ophthalmologist-physicianeer (i.e., physician-engineer). I am passionate about surgically managing complex ocular diseases, where unmet needs inspire me to use my skills as a mechatronics engineer to develop devices that improve eye care.
I am currently the Stanford Ophthalmic Innovation fellow where I have the opportunity to use mechatronics and software to innovate ocular technology while also learning how to navigate device regulatory pathways to translate devices toward clinical use. I decided to pursue the innovation fellowship to complement my surgical training as an ophthalmology resident at Cook County Health in Chicago, IL where I had the opportunity to manage end-stage, complex eye diseases and perform a breadth of challenging ophthalmic surgeries.
Feel free to explore my projects and reach out if you have thoughts or questions! I love to connect with new people.
